Rapper and businessman Shawn Carter aka Jay Z has signed a two year deal with The Weinstein Company to produce TV and film projects.
The deal was announced on Thursday by the company, adding that big-screen projects involving Jay are already underway and will be announced in the coming weeks.
“I’m excited to tell stories from real life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” Jay Z said. “I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”
The Brooklyn hip-hop mogul already has film experience as he produced Will Gluck’s Annie remake, co-produced Chris Rock’s Top Five and executive-produced Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.
