A University Of Richmond fraternity has been suspended for what the school termed a “grossly offensive” email that was sent out as a party invitation.

The email read: “Tonight’s the type of night that makes fathers afraid to send their daughters away to school.” The writer of the email also added “looking forward to watching the lodge virginity be gobbled up for y’all” “If you haven’t started drinking already, catch up.”

The suspension comes as the school faces scrutiny over the way it handled the alleged sexual assaults of two female students. One of the women accused to school of trying to protect an athlete who she says sexually assaulted her last year.

The university has now suspended operations, activities and events of Richmond’s Kappa Alpha chapter, pending investigation into the email which was sent to about 100 students.

“The email contained grossly offensive language and suggestions of behavior inconsistent with our policies concerning Greek life and with the caring nature of our campus community” The university said in a statement.
