Former Manchester United wonderkid Federico Macheda has been offered to Palermo, according to tuttomercatoweb.com.

The Sicilian side are in the market for a free-agent striker and 25–year-old could fit the bill following his release from Cardiff this summer.

If completed, a return to his native Italy could present Macheda with the platform to try and replicate the form which saw him break into the Manchester United first-team in 2009.

But according to another report Palermo have reportedly passed up the chance to sign former Manchester United striker and free agent Federico Macheda.

Macheda representative were told by Rosanero executives that the club were not interested in bringing in his client.

Macheda was formed in Lazio’s youth team but has only played for one club in Italy, that being Sampdoria in the second half of the 2010-11 season.
