Antonio Conte believes Oscar is relishing his role as an ‘important’ player for Chelsea once again after it seemed his future might lie away from the club.
That was after the 25-year-old struggled for form under Jose Mourinho then lost his place under Guus Hiddink last season.
After Conte pushed Oscar back into central midfield – rather than behind the striker or on the wing – the player’s form has improved again.
The Brazil international was linked with a move from Stamford Bridge over the summer four years after he moved to London from Internacional.
The Italian, whose side face Liverpool in Friday Night Football, said: “Oscar is a good player with good technique and can do both phases, offensive and defensive. I asked him to stay always focused and to stay in the game.
“He is an important player for Chelsea, a good passer, good technique, and he scores goals. There was speculation but I am very glad for him that he stayed because he is in my plans.”
