Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says James Rodriguez will stay at the Bernabeu this summer.
James has consistently been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital on the back of a disappointing second campaign at the 11-time European Cup winners. He is likely to face even more competition for a regular place this season after Real Madrid’s decision to incorporate talented young playmaker Marco Asensio into their first-team squad.
Speculation about James featured prominently in the Spanish media on Tuesday, with some reports claiming Real Madrid are preparing to sell the former Monaco man. However, those reports have effectively been denied by Zidane.
The Real Madrid coach was asked about the Colombian’s future following his side’s 5-3 win against Stade de Reims on Tuesday night and said: “James is here, I am happy with how he played and he will be staying here. I will always respond in the same way to that, I’m tired of having to give a response. My stance is not going to change.”
