Snoop Dogg is finally taking his love for marijuana to the big screen as he’ll be an executive-producer and a ‘special’ character in MTV’s new weed comedy, Mary + Jane.
The show’s executive producers Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont revealed at a panel for the series at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, July 31, that the rapper produced and performed the theme song for the new weed-themed series.

The exec-producers also disclosed, “Snoop Dogg wouldn’t be starring as himself, rather he’ll be a “a very, very special person” in the half-hour that sees stars Jessica Rothe and Scout Durwood play two twenty-something best friends who run an all-female marijuana delivery service in Los Angeles.”
Kaplan added: “You don’t know when he’s going to appear. You have to watch all the way to the end to see him.”
Other executive producers include Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, Marcus Blakely and Jill McElroy.
Cameo appearances will feature, Seth Green, Leonard Roberts, Andy Daly and Missi Pyle.
If the first season of Mary + Jane which premieres on September 5 at 10 p.m. on MTV becomes a success, there will be more slots for cameos in its second season.
Kaplan said, “We’re hoping that going forward, people who are weed-friendly and comedy-friendly will see the show, get excited about it and just want to come out and play.”
