Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul will sign a new contract with the club before joining Ajax on loan.
The Holland international is wanted as a replacement for Jasper Cillessen who is joining Barcelona.
Krul has one year left on contract but will sign a one-year extension before moving to Amsterdam for the season.
Krul is on around £60,000 per week and Newcastle will have to subsidise part of his salary while with Ajax.
The 28-year-old is close to full fitness after a knee ligament injury.
Rafa Benitez said he was willing to allow Krul to move on saying: ‘He has one year left on his contract and we have five keepers are the moment, he’s coming back from injury, training hard and improving.
‘We have Sels now, we have Darlow and we have Woodman so we can’t keep five keepers for the whole season.
‘If we can have a solution before (the transfer window ends) – he is getting fitter but it depends if anyone is interested, if they are, we will listen to them.’
