Bournemouth have agreed a transfer fee with Stoke City to sign defender Marc Wilson.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe confirmed this after the 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United that his club had had a bid of about £2m accepted for the Republic of Ireland international.
The transfer is now likely to be completed in the next 48 hours as long as the player agrees personal terms and passes a medical.
“We have agreed a fee and are waiting for the formalities to be completed.”
Should the deal go through, 28-year-old Wilson, who has two years remaining on his contract with Stoke, will return to a club at which he spent two separate periods on loan in 2007.
Wilson recently appeared to hit out at Potters boss Mark Hughes over his lack of game time during a clash with supporters on Twitter.
