Newcastle forward Siem De Jong has joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan.
De Jong joined Newcastle in 2014 from Ajax but made just a handful of league starts.
At the weekend, PSV’s Director of Football, Marcel Brands, claimed that the injury problems suffered by Siem de Jong had been ‘a bit exaggerated’.
Siem’s brother is looking forward to playing with his brother after passing up the chance of doing so at Newcastle, when he claims he could have signed permanently after a loan spell but chose PSV instead.
Luuk de Jong talking to De Telegraaf:
“It’s a good opportunity for him (Siem de Jong) to show himself once again at the highest level.
“For PSV it is good to have a lot of competition as we e are entering a tough season and need a wide selection of players.
“Once before we had the chance to play together when Siem went to Newcastle, I could have stayed there eventually but I chose to go to PSV .
“It’s great that we can play together now.”
