Rennes are in pole position to snap up Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard, according to Norwegian publication VG.

The 17-year-old, who turned down offers from across Europe to join Real Madrid in January 2015, is likely to leave the Bernabeu on loan this month and has no shortage of suitors.

West Ham have made enquiries about his situation, as have Bundesliga clubs Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen.

The player was believed to be keen on a move to Germany, but it appears as though he will head to France on a short-term basis instead.

VG claim Rennes are the frontrunners to secure Odegaard’s services, and the deal could even be finalised this weekend.
