Leganes are leading the chase to sign Real Madrid youngster Mariano, reports AS.
The Dominican Republic international, who has impressed for Real Madrid in pre-season after starring for their reserve side Castilla last term, has been pursued by a number of clubs in recent weeks.
Malaga, Porto, Villarreal and Alaves are all interested in the striker, but AS reports that Leganes are now the frontrunners to secure his services on loan. Real Madrid prefer the option of sending Mariano to Leganes as the newly-promoted are willing to include a recall clause in the deal.
Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane was quizzed about Mariano following Real Madrid’s friendly win against Stade de Reims on Tuesday and said: “We’ll have to see. For the time being he’s here with us. He’s a Madrid player, he hasn’t been unveiled as a signing because he’s come up from Castilla.
