Raphael Varane believes his decision to stay at Real Madrid is the right choice.
The French defender ended last season as Real Madrid’s third-choice centre-back behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe. As such, he was then linked with a reunion with his old Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
However, he looks set to continue at Real Madrid, citing the importance of his relationship with coach Zinedine Zidane.
“I trust the club and I trust the coach (Zinedine Zidane). I have spoken with him a lot and he trusts me, so that is one of the reasons for me to stay. I feel good here,” he is quoted as saying in AS. “I think that I have taken a decision which is to stay, it’s the right decision. I am going to continue improving, and I want this season to be a good one for me, and one at my best level.”
