Joleon Lescott has signed for Greek side AEK Athens on a two-year deal.
The 34-year-old defender leaves Aston Villa on a free transfer after Roberto Di Matteo made it clear he would not be including Lescott in his plans this season.
Lescott also had an offer from Pescara but the Italians were only prepared to give the defender a one-year contract.
A statement on AEK Athens’ website read: ‘AEK FC announces the transfer of the British international defender Joleon Lescott, who signed a two-year contract with AEK Athens. The club welcomes him for this new chapter of his big career.’
AEK Athens becomes the Lescott’s sixth club, after spells at Wolves, Everton, Manchester City, West Brom and Villa.
The Greek club is one of the Superleague’s ‘Big Three’ teams, along with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
