Hakan Calhanoglu’s agent has claimed that Tottenham have shown interest in the Bayer Leverkusen forward.
The 22-year-old has also been linked with Atletico Madrid in the Spanish press this summer.
His agent, Bektas Demirtas, told German publication Express: “It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me.”
According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayer Leverkusen’s manager Roger Schmidt does not see Calhanoglu as a first-choice starter for the new Bundesliga season and the player would like to leave.
However, striker Javier Hernandez broke his hand on Tuesday and is expected to be out for at least two weeks, therefore the chances of Calhanoglu moving to another club seems unrealistic for now.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he hopes to sign up to three new players before the transfer deadline.
