DJ Khaled is basking at having his first ever No 1 spot on Billboard 200 album chart with his new studio album “Major Key”, released under labels, We the Best/Epic Records.
“Major Key” features Jay Z, Future, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and many more.
According to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, “DJ Khaled’s album sold 59,000 albums, 80,000 songs and was streamed nearly 42 million times in the past week, totaling 95,000 album units.”
Drake’s album “Views,” held strong at the number one spot for twelve nonconsecutive weeks with 78 million streams and 15,000 in sales but got dethroned to No. 2 by DJ Khaled’s “Major Key”, for the second time since its April release.
For its first debut week, “Major Key” was to stream exclusively from Apple Music and to download from the iTunes store.
This isn’t a first time arrangement as both Future and Drake have used to clutch number one albums.
Other album chart-toppers are, number three, Twenty One Pilots’ “Blurryface” (Fueled by Ramen), number four, the country singer Jake Owen with “American Love” (RCA Nashville); and number five, Rihanna’s “Anti”.
Looks like Khaled has the key.
