Actor Chris Rock and Malaak Compton-Rock have finalized their divorce.
The couple appeared in a New Jersey court on Monday, August 22.
Rock and Malaak announced the dissolution of their almost 20-year marriage in 2014.
The couple spent the last two years deliberating on details of their divorce settlement, particularly the issue of child support of an 8-year-old girl who lived with them.
Malaak insisted Rock should pay child support for the child seeing as they had both raised her as their own prior their divorce.
Filing his original divorce petition on December 23, 2015, Chris Rock said he and Compton had just two kids together. While Malaak on the other hand, stated in her counterclaim that although they have two children, they have another child, Ntombi, “who has resided with the parties since before her first birthday.”
The enstranged couple married in 1996 and their kids are aged 12 and 14.
Ntombi, 8 was only 6 months old when she began living with the Rock family. She was a South African child born to poor street peddlers.
The Rocks never legally adopted Ntombi causing he comedian to insist she isn’t his daughter.
