Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is considering a move for Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez.
The Blues are willing to pay up to £22m for the Switzerland international as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
Following the departure of Baba Rahman on loan to Schalke, Conte only has Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.
They have also made first contact for Cologne’s Jonas Hector, however, he has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club since the enquiry went in, so that now seems bleak.
Rodriguez has apparently told Wolfsburg that he wants to leave this summer and he has caught the eye of a number of clubs.
Real Madrid, Roma and Arsenal have been linked with the 23-year-old as have Manchester United in the past.
However, Chelsea are the only club prepared to stump up the £22m asking price to make deal happen.
