AY, real name Ayodeji Richard Makun, is 37 today and we wish him a deserving happy birthday.
Born on August 19, 1978, the comedian’s wife teamed up with a series of Nigerian stars to surprise her husband at 12AM while he was having a practice of some sought.

Known as one of Nigeria’s funniest comedians and comic-movie producers, we’ll take a peek into his 37 years journey on planet earth.
AY, is an indigene of Ondo State but prefers to be known as a ‘Warri boy’. He is the host of the A.Y live shows and A.Y comedy skits.
His first movie, 30 Days in Atlanta was produced by him and directed by Robert Peters. He was made a U.N Peace Ambassador in 2009 after winning six awards in 2008. He is the C.E.O of Corporate World Entertainment Nigeria.
Ayo Makun attended Delta State University, Abraka. He graduated (after spending nine years) in 2003 as the most celebrated theater arts student.
He also won other awards such as the most fashionable student on campus (1999 and 2000); best show-biz promoter (2001); the most celebrated student on campus (2001) and the Jaycee club socio-personality award (2003).
Ayo Makun came into spotlight after being Alibaba Akporobome’s personal assistant and event manager. A.Y also wrote going “A.Y wire” as a guest columnist in The Sun (Nigeria) and Gbenga Adeyinka’s “laugh mattaz”.
He is the host of the A.Y live shows – one of Africa’s biggest comic-concerts. He also has A.Y comedy skits, which he directs and acts in; and the popular, AY’s crib, one of Nigeria’s popular sitcom, which stars Alex Ekubo, Venita Akpofure, Buchi Franklin and Justice Nuagbe.
Ayo Makun is the oldest male child from a family of seven. He married Mabel in 2008 and they have a daughter together, Michelle.
As an investor in stand-up comedy, he has influenced upcoming comedians through his AY “Open Mic Challenge”; also, his role as a producer has led him to produce box office hit movie, 30 Days in Atlanta and A Trip To Jamaica which is set to debut soon.
He has bagged more than nine awards so far.
