Wenger Reveals Why He Turned Down England Job – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he was offered the job of England manager, but turned it down.

The FA had been hopeful Wenger would replace Roy Hodgson, who was sacked after a shocking exit from the UEFA Euro 2016 Championship at the hands of Iceland.

Wenger revealed that he informed the FA that he had a year left on his Arsenal contract, and he had to honor the contract.

He said about the interest from England: “Yes but you know, I think I have shown I respect my contracts and I rate loyalty highly. I always did that with Arsenal and I have one more year to go so I was not available anyway.”

England went on to sign on Sam Allardyce their manager, and Wenger now faces what might be his last season at the helm in North London.
