Jimmy Fallon will be the host of the 74th Annual Golden Globes, 2017.
NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt confirmed, Tuesday, August 2, that the Tonight’s Show host Jimmy Fallon will be the new face of its next edition.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills, Greenblatt said, “We’ve found the best possible host to make the evening really memorable and that’s Jimmy Fallon.”
Greenblatt added, “I know he will bring his unique energy and wit to the show. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is thrilled and we’re thrilled as well that he wanted to do it this year.”
For the past seven years, either Ricky Gervais or the duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have hosted the awards.
After a 10-year peak under Fey and Poehler’s stewardship, the awards ceremony recorded a slump in 2014 and ratings have continued to plunge.
The Tonight Show presenter has been brought in to save the day with his humor and get the prestigious show back its audience.
Fallon hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2010.
