A welder, Mr. Segun Bamidele, has been apprehended for allegedly decapitating a farmer, Mr. Sunday Owolabi, at Rore village in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Punch was quoted as saying that Owolabi, who was found dead at his farm on Monday, was beheaded by Bamidele, who may have been on a mission to sell the severed head of the victim.
A well informed source disclosed that the victim had gone to his farm on Saturday only not to return home, adding that Owolabi’s relatives got worried and later organised a search party.
According to him, the search party found Owolabi’s headless body on Sunday on the farm.
“The suspect tried to sell the severed head to one Aliyu, who turned him down. Aliyu thereafter reported the case to a community leader, who in turn informed the village head.
“Upon interrogation by the community, Bamidele confessed to have acted under influence of alcohol.”
It was gathered that the case was later reported at the Omu-Aran Police Division, which led to the arrest of the suspect.”
Speaking on the incident, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and was being interrogated.
