CBN Issues New Directive To All Nigerian Banks
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered all banks in the country to publish details of all foreign exchange transactions on the Financial Market Dealers Quote (FMDQ) platform.
The directive was contained in an email issued on Monday by the Managing Director/Chief Executive FMDQ, Mr. Bola Onadele.
The Apex Bank said Banks should update all trades irrespective of the exchange rate.
The statement read: “The CBN is very interested in credible price formation for the spot foreign-exchange market.
Court Fires Markafi, Reinstates Sheriff As PDP National Chairman
The ongoing leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have been fanned in ‘intense’ flames on Thursday after a Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the party, saying it is illegal.
The dismissal is coming on the back of a preliminary ruling by the court, in an application filed on July 4 by the Ali Modu Sheriff-faction of the party, seeking to stop the national convention of the party, which was planned by the Makarfi faction and scheduled for August 17.
14 Dead As Herdsmen Raid Benue Community
At least 14 persons have been killed on Monday in a fresh attack on Gaambe-Tiev, Logo Local Government area of Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
In their usually rampageous ambush, the cattle rustlers stormed the community at about 7.30am on Monday, shooting sporadically, with houses and farmlands set ablaze at Adeyohor village along Uwer-Gov Sevav Road.
An eyewitness told Vanguard that, “The herdsmen, in their usual fashion, stormed Gaambe-Tiev this morning around 7:30a.m. in their numbers, shooting sporadically and shouting. The people never expected it.

The former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has iterated that allegations of budget padding, which he leveled against the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, and other principal members should not be taken for granted.
In a statement issued specifically by him on Sunday, Jibrin elaborated on how the process of screening the 2016 budget by the appropriations committee was hijacked by Dogara and a cabal within the House.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, has arrived Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Sunday on a two-day visit in company of the Secretary General Fatma Samoura.
The two football governing body officials were received by the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, as well as several members of the Federation’s Executive Committee and management staff.
Infantino and Samoura were treated to a brief display by a cultural troupe on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, before a session of photographs with the NFF members.
They were however unable to stay longer for any contact with others not within the NFF family as security was tight around them, with no opportunity to speak with the media.
9 Ekiti Lawmakers To Face Trial Over Certificate Forgery
The Nigerian government has concluded plans to prosecute nine out of the 26 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly for alleged forgery of their academic results.
The decision to prosecute the nine lawmakers led to an intensive investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) into the state lawmakers’ certificates, The Punch learnt.
The probe was triggered by a myriad of petitions sent to the agency and the Police by aggrieved members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
