Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Remi Tinubu are at each other’s throats again despite calling a truce.
Dino Melaye gave a thuggish sound-off after he arrived in Lagos over the weekend and bragged that he was in town, daring those who had warned him to stay away from the city to do their worst. He was referencing Mrs Tinubu and her co-horts who said he would be in trouble if he came into the Eko.
While he was in town, he took a series of photographs with jeering captions as he walked through Bourdillion Road in the upscale Ikoyi area of Lagos where former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu lives.
His presence in Lagos courted the wrath of several women who took to the streets with placards in a campaign #SayNoToDinoMelaye to oust him out of the state.
This is definitely the handiwork of Mrs Tinubu as her husband literally owns Lagos which begs the question, ”Who has the right to oust anybody out of a state?”
If Mrs Tinubu is calling Dino Melaye a “thug” and she lobbied for people to campaign for him to leave the state, who then is the ‘thug’ and who is the ‘thugee’?
Rather than focus on issues affecting their constituency and using the weekend to rest so they have a clear head for the week, these two senators are making a caricature of power-play to prove a point.
The point of “I own Lagos” and “You don’t own Lagos” between these two is ridiculous to say the least.
We are certain those women aren’t walking up and down the streets for free.
Remi Tinubu reportedly threw the first shot by calling the Kogi-senatorial-rep a “thug”.
Melaye revealed through his statement to press, “She…. said that this thug must be tamed at that point I got up and I told her that she is very stupid. The next statement from her is that you are a dog.
She called me a dog and when she called me a dog I stood up and I reacted and I told her that this is not Bourdillon and that she should look at my face, I am not one of those senators who normally come to prostrate to them in Bourdillon.
And I told her I am from Kogi State, I am not from Lagos State and that there would never be a day that I will come to you for political assistance.”
The Kogi State senator said the story of him threatening to impregnate Mrs Tinubu was a “falacious” “malicious” “lie” especially since Mrs Tinubu has arrived menopause.
These two are making a joke of their positions as Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
