Stoke City have made teenage winger Ramadan Sohbi their first signing of the summer as the Egypt international was granted a work permit this week.
The length of the contract has yet to be confirmed, but the 19-year-old is considered one of the most exciting talents in African football and the fee could rise to £5m with add-ons.
Chief executive Tony Scholes told Stoke’s official website: “We are absolutely delighted to have signed a player of Ramadan’s undoubted quality and potential.
“He’s a special young talent who is excited about the prospect of making an impact in the Premier League and we’re looking forward to giving him that platform.”
Sobhi, who is expected to receive his UK visa over the next 48 hours, is likely to join his new team-mates in the US city of Orlando later this week, where they are preparing for the new Premier League campaign.
