Spain have named Julen Lopetegui as their new coach.
The 49-year-old former Porto boss takes over from Vicente del Bosque, who confirmed after Euro 2016 he would not be extending his eight-year stay in the Spain hotseat.
A statement from the Spanish football federation said: “The RFEF has appointed Julen Lopetegui as the new national team coach.”
He offered to resign after Spain’s exit at the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, but was convinced to stay.
At Euro 2016, Spain reached the last 16, but were eliminated at that stage as they lost 2-0 to Italy.
