Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has stated he finds the idea of coaching in England or Italy appealing.
The Argentine was ruminating on his future at the Vicente Calderon, after the UCL final loss to Real Madrid. And despite stating he’ll remain at the club, he is continually linked with a move away.
Speaking ahead of the ICC international friendly between Atletico and Tottenham, Simeone spoke of a possible move in his future.
“I am a young coach so I feel that [managing elsewhere] is possible,” he told the media ahead of Atleti’s International Champions Cup fixture against Tottenham in Melbourne.
“There are many other leagues that would provide great challenges, but the English and Italian leagues are particularly attractive.”
For now Simeone’s focus is improving on Atleti’s third-placed finish in La Liga, as they aim to keep competing with heavyweight foes Madrid and Barcelona.
“I think we have a strong team,” he added. “We are enthusiastic and have big hopes.
“We have improved the work we are doing as a club and as a team. We are strong and want to work hard to reach our potential.”
