Atletico Madrid have held talks with the agents of Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro, reports L’Equipe.
Last season’s Champions League runners-up are on the hunt for a new striker and Gameiro is a long-standing target.
According to L’Equipe, the Frenchman is inching closer to a move to the Vicente Calderon. The forward’s agents met with Atleti representatives two weeks ago.
Atletico Madrid had reportedly looked set to sign Mauro Icardi but now it appears that the Argentinean will renew terms with Inter Milan, following a recent meeting between the player’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara and Inter’s Director of Sport Piero Ausilio.
Gameiro joined Sevilla three seasons ago, and spent the first two seasons as an alternative to Carlos Bacca
Gameiro, who is also admired by Barcelona, scored 29 goals in 52 matches in 2015/16.
