Brazil legend, Ronaldo De Lima has revealed he feels abandoned by Messi, following his decision to retire.
The Barcelona forward lost his third major final in three years in the Copa America. Argentina lost to Chile in back-to-back Copa America finals.
And the 29-year-old who missed his penalty in the shootout, announced his decision never to play for Argentina. With prominent figures such as Maradona and president of his country publicly pleading with him to renege on the decision.
Ronaldo, who himself lost World Cup and Copa America finals before going on to win both, sympathises with the Barcelona man but, like most self-respecting football fans, is praying for a change of heart.
“It is an extremely personal choice for Messi and we have to respect,” Ronaldo told China’s official Xinhua news agency.
“We all feel abandoned by Messi and hope he can change his decision.”
