share on:

Pitbull, real name Armando Christian Pérez, receives his star as the 2,584th name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Friday, (July, 15).

Present at the ceremony were three important people in Pitbull’s life, his Uncle Luke – Luther Campbell, Tony Robbins and Lil Jon. Pitbull’s star is located on Celia Cruz square in central Hollywood as Cruz is one of his idols.

He said, “I use these platforms to speak to you all and for you all to understand that for me it’s never been about money, it’s never been about fame—It’s been about a journey.

And that journey being that it’s about our culture. It’s about coming from nothing to something. It’s about being the prime example of what the American dream is and what it embodies.”

Pitbull said it’s never been about the fame, but about the journey

The 35-year-old revealed he has six children but shields them from the spotlight not because he’s selfish, but he doesn’t want them to have to deal with the ups and down’s of the limelight which is what the life he chose is all about.

“I don’t want them to be a part of the life I signed up for, but I love them dearly.”

He talked about his passion and dedication as what kept him going and encouraged his fans to stay focused, work hard, believe in themselves and always go against all odds.

Pitbull added, “And if there’s on thing I never understood it’s no. Losing to me is just another opportunity and failure to me is just another lesson learned.”

He admitted to the love he has for his roots and never forgets it, as he’s always talking and singing about his city, Miami.

The I-know-you-want-me singer said, “So to be here and go from, La Sawesera, La Pequeña Habana, Wynwood, Hialeah, Opa-Locka, Carol City, Liberty City, Allapattah… I mean all these different neighborhoods and to be able to be here in Hollywood getting a star—it’s priceless.”

The Miami star was especially grateful to his mother who taught him the most important aspect of life which was how to survive in a world like this.

“I want to say thank you to my mother because she taught me one thing, it’s the most important thing in life, she taught me how to survive,” he said.

He said he would love his fans, “to go against all odds and see that nothing could stop them as long as they believe in themselves and do right by others.”

Besides his star, he also received a piece of history from the estate of Celia Cruz his idol – a shoe worn by the amazing performer in her earlier years.

Always go against all odds, believe in yourself, and do right by others.
