This is one comic superhero film you can’t afford not to watch. The movie is based on a disfigured mercenary who has a flair for the profane and a need to be violent. The movie was released on February 12, after being in development for years as one of the installments of 20th century Fox’s X-Men film franchise. The movie went a long way in convincing viewers that superhero characters are not just all about brawn and muscles, but that they also can be funny and quacky.

Captain America: Civil War

This crossover comic from the stables of Marvel Comics continues with its good run on Captain America: Civil War. The story follows the response of world governments to a disaster which led to the imposition of some sort of control over the growing number of superpowered beings in the world. This action leaves Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) at opposing ends which leads to violence. There were appearances from new stars including the Black Panther and (Chadwick Boseman) as well as superheroes from the Avengers movies. Spider-Man also made his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance in this movie. One thing this movie guarantees is non-stop action which is why it is a must see, if you haven’t done so already.

This movie was released on June 10 and stars Travis Fimmel who played Viking leader Ragner Lothbrok on the History channel television series, Vikings. A couple of things worked in favour of Warcraft, especially it’s $100 million budget which helped to bring to life the movies’ epic fantasy landscape. Movie director Duncan Jones brought out the best in the actors and making good use of CGI technology for a storyline that finds humans and orcs on the brink of war. And the best part of the movie is that a franchise is most likely on its way.

X-Men: Apocalypse

The X-Men franchise returns to its comic-book roots with X-Men: Apocalypse which was released on the 27th of May. This movie is the last of the trilogy that kicked off in 2011 and stars Oscar Isaac, who plays the role of a powerful villain whose status as arguably the world’s first mutant has set him on a centuries-long quest to purify the species by any means necessary. This superhero sequel actually lived up to its name given the exhilarating and shattering action scenes that filled up the movie.
