The Olympics are closer than ever and Vogue decided to shoot one of the hottest models right now, Gigi Hadid alongside Olympic record holder, Ashton Eaton who holds the world record in both the decathlon and indoor heptathlon events, and is only the second decathlete to break the 9,000-point barrier, with 9,039 points.
The beautiful shoot was captured by Mario Testino and shot at Santa Barbara.
The sky is blue, the dolphins are breaching, and the Channel Islands loom like a couple of those big inflatable cushions that a decathlete falls into after he sprints, then plants his pole, then vaults, and then, in so doing, rises like a fish up a waterfall before at last descending, the taut stretch of his body seeming to disassemble in that beautiful strategic flop. For a few months a year, Eaton lives and trains in this Pacific-coast city that has been called the American Riviera.
Gigi’s love for fitness is no secret but we saw a more athletic side of her with this shoot, Ashton says “She has natural ability,”.
