2016 has definitely been a good movie year with the series of movies that have been released since January to date. With more movies scheduled to come to the big screens later in the year, it seems viewers are just about to spend more money at the cinemas.
With movies such as The Purge 3, Suicide Squad, Star Trek and Underworld 5 premiering in the third quarter of the year, more movies are expected to give these movies a run for their money at the Box office.

Doctor Strange – November 4
After Stephen Strange, the world’s top neurosurgeon, is injured in a car accident that ruins his career, he sets out on a journey of healing, where he encounters the Ancient One, who later becomes Strange’s mentor in the mystic arts. Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, the goateed Sorcerer Supreme, Tilda Swinton as his mystic mentor, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo and Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West -A rival scientist to Strange.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – November 18
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, or simply Fantastic Beasts, is an upcoming 2016 British-American fantasy drama film starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, and Colin Farrell. With almost $8 billion in worldwide box office grosses, the Harry Potter movies are one of the most lucrative film franchises of all time and author of the series J.K. Rowling hopes to continue this success with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which will be a spinoff that takes place 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter series. The movie focuses on the adventures of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a wizard whose trip to America is thrown into disarray when a group of magical creatures escape from confinement.

Bad Santa 2 – November 23
Bad Santa 2 is an upcoming American Christmas black comedy crime film directed by Mark Waters and starring Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox, Brett Kelly, Kathy Bates, and Christina Hendricks. Actors Billy Bob Thornton and Tony Cox play a couple of professional thieves who take advantage of their working at a mall to steal from department stores. Details of the movie have been kept under secret, but this movie is expected to go all the way to the top at the Box office especially given the fact that it will be released almost a month to Christmas.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – December 16
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be the first stand-alone Star Wars Anthology film, and the ninth theatrical feature film in the series. The movie takes place prior to the events of A New Hope and depicts the struggles of the band of Rebel fighters who stole the plans for the first Death Star, which set into motion Luke Skywalker’s fateful transition from moisture farmer to legendary space pilot and Jedi warrior. The movie will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Jonathan Aris. It also has Godzilla director Gareth Edwards at the helm which makes it certain to go all the way at the Box office.
Assassin’s Creed – December 21
The movie is based on the massively popular and prolific video-game series of the same name and is set to open in cinemas in December of this year. Michael Fassbender plays the role of Callum Lynch, who discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day. The movie also stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and Michael K. Williams.
