#LiveYourDream: A Chat with Martin Mabutho

share on:

Multichoice General Manager (Marketing and Sales), Martin Mabutho, had a chat with a 360nobs  where he talked about the #LiveYourDream campaign and signing footballer Odion Ighalo as an ambassador.

Here is the full the interview:

The media has been buzzing about MultiChoice signing Odion Ighalo as ambassador. Why Odion? Why a footballer as ambassador?

We believe Odion Ighalo has a great story so we decided to creatively tell it. More so, his zest and brilliant accomplishments as a footballer, locally and internationally, made him a perfect fit for the brand.

We like the idea/concept of the Live Your Dream campaign. Tell us more about it.

The Live Your Dream campaign is about the passion, perseverance and determination of Nigerians to achieve their dreams despite the challenges they face. We wanted to remind Nigerians that anything is possible if only they dare to dream. To drive the campaign, we had to align with a relatable story and personality, so we decided to use Nigeria’s most loved sport and one of Africa’s finest football exports – Odion Ighalo – to tell a story of hope and victory.

So the campaign was inspired by Odion’s story?

Let’s just say his story forms a key aspect of the campaign. I mean, Odion is currently living his dream! His results on the pitch have been a dream come true for a Nigerian/African player in the Premier League. He has had a number of awards and recognitions some of which include being awarded premier league player for the month of December 2015 and named highest goal scorer with a total of 21 goals for the calendar year in 2015. He is no doubt a star player in the premier league!

Any plans on having a launch event for the campaign?

There will be no formal launch event, however, we will be hosting football fans to a live screening event on Premier League kick off day on 13 August. That’s an event we organize every year, we just like to sit down with football fans to watch the game, while they enjoy SuperSport analysis live at the venue, with other games and giveaways. Details on venue will be shared on our social media platforms soon. We also will be having a meet and greet event with Odion Ighalo later in the year.

Sounds exciting. But what is the takeout from the campaign for your subscribers?

By now you know the Premier League is just days away and Nigerians are really excited about it; everyone is talking about the new managers and players in the league now. And we just want all Nigerians to know that all of the Premier League action will be broadcast on DStv Compact bouquet that’s only N6,000 per month. So for that amount, everyone can live their dream of enjoying the best football entertainment on DStv.

For only N 6,000? Impressive!
Yes, we believe it is.

And subscribers on Compact will get to watch all premier league matches?

Yes, that’s correct!

We definitely would be looking forward to that. So any other offers up for grabs from DStv?

Sure! We are offering new subscribers a DStv HD Zapper decoder with dish and one month FREE Compact subscription for only N9,900; while the amazing Explora decoder now goes for N30,000 and it includes a dish and one month FREE Compact subscription. This is our way of adding more value to our subscribers’ video entertainment experience despite the current realities we are facing.
