Koffi Olomide might receive a one-year prison sentence for assaulting one of his dancers.
A DRC judge is presently considering serving the rumba singer a one-year behind bars time-out after a video of him physically assaulting one of his dancers went viral.
The incident occurred at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Friday (July, 23rd) as he was scheduled to perform at the Bomas Of Kenya Arena.
Koffi was said to have attacked one of his dancers, named Pamela, in defense of another named Cindy who is rumored to be his mistress after both women had a disagreement.
He was deported along with his dancers on Saturday morning after spending Friday night in prison after Kenyans called for his deportation.
This isn’t his first run-in with physical assault as he had received a three-month suspended sentence in 2012 for assaulting his producer in Democratic Republic of Congo.
In 2008, the Selfie singer was also accused of being violent to a cameraman who was a staff of one of the radio stations in DRC.
Koffi reportedly assaulted the man and broke his camera after they both had disagreements over recording rights.
With this in mind, “Should Koffi Olomide be sentenced to prison so he can learn his lesson? Or should he be forgiven and case dismissed?”
Pamela, the assaulted dancer spoke through Facebook, explaining she wasn’t attacked.
She said, “For your information, Koffi does not beat us. For all those who love Koffi, I want to tell you that Koffi is not someone who is aggressive… he loves us very much and it’s just a girl who came and started attacking us.
As far as we are concerned, we don’t have any problem. We came for a concert. We are in good terms with Koffi. He is our president and he never harms us.”
In the court of law, if she refuses to testify against Koffi, he is a free man.
