Barcelona are set to announce the signing of Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla after reaching a deal with their La Liga rivals, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Luis Enrique wants a fourth forward to support Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and Gameiro has reportedly opted for Barca over an offer from Atletico Madrid.
The Frenchman played no part in Los Nervionenses’ friendly against SV Sanhausen on Sunday and rumours subsequently began to emerge about his future.
Sevilla also had an offer from Atletico Madrid on the table, but the insistence of the Blaugrana appears to have turned the situation in their favour. In any case, the principle agreement must be approved by Gameiro himself.
Priority was always given to signing Gameiro by Barça, although Luciano Vietto has also been cited as a suitable attacking reinforcement alongside the “MSN”.
Barça will keep tabs on the Argentinian youngster to see how developments over Gameiro unfold in the next few hours.
