Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely by the WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, after he was arrested with his fiancee, Lauryn McBride at their Memphis, Tennessee home for domestic violence, Friday, (June, 17).
WWE said in a statement following Lawler’s suspension, “WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.”
Lawler and McBride who are accusing each other of being responsible for the assault were detained for the misdemeanor crime of domestic assault – bodily harm.
Reports confirmed police responded to a 911 hangup call to the couples home just as an affidavit revealed the two were involved in a violent confrontation as McBride claimed Lawler struck her in the head and pushed her against a stove.
McBride in turn insisted Lawler had gotten out an unloaded pistol, put it on the kitchen counter and told her to kill herself.
Lawler told police he confronted McBride for lying about where she had been and why she was drunk but she flared up and scratched him in the face before throwing a candle at him and kicking his groin.
The WWE personality claimed his fiancee was the one who brought the pistol into the kitchen.
The couple are due in court on Monday, June 20.
