The Cute Photos From The FCT Interschool Performing Arts Competition (FIPAC) Abuja

share on:

The Performing Arts School of Nigeria/The Studio Abuja, initiated The FCT Interschool Performing Arts Competition (FIPAC) – to celebrate and foster the development of the performing arts culture in Nigerian Schools – this dream has been realized for three years running, with 2016’s edition expanding to Lagos.

Olamidun Majekodunmi, founder of The Performing Arts School Nigeria, gave a keynote speech whereby she addressed the often undervalued need for performing arts and extracurricular activities within the Nigerian school system stating “FIPAC is here to support your goals by contributing as much as we can to the growth of your performing arts departments.”

The 2016 competition was supported by the United Bank for Africa (UBA),  Celebrations Cards and Gift and Chivita ; alongside online media partners BellaNaija, 360 Nobs, YNaija, Pulse. The event’s growth made an impact in both cities, having taken place on the 18th and 26th of May, 2016 at the Agip Recital Hall of the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos and  Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.

FIPAC 2016 featured about 30 primary and secondary schools from Lagos and Abuja, competing in dance, music and drama performances with a chance to win up to N2,000,000 in cash prizes and gifts towards their school’s Performing Arts Department and bragging rights towards next year’s competition.

The judges panel was comprised of select experts from renowned cultural organisations and personalities – Keke Hammond, Gideon Okeke, Mrs Toki Mabogunje, Golda Obi, Lea Grenada, Akin Adejuwon and Robert Kerr with the distinct task of analysing the performances and deciding the winners.

Both competitions were hosted by celebrated on air personalities Dami Elebe in Lagos and Matilda Duncan returned as the host in Abuja. They were memorable experiences as the ladies kept the performers and audience alike entertained as the performances were showcased.

Asides the cash winning prizes, the kids and adults as well – who were not left out of the fun- went away with numerous gifts including educational books, thanks to UBA and The Studio Abuja. The Celebrations and Chivita stands kept the children engaged in fun activities –leaving them energized and excited to hit the stage.

The FCT Interschool Performing Arts Competition was a tremendous success, with the kids already gearing up to grace the stages again next year.
