The Performing Arts School of Nigeria/The Studio Abuja, initiated The FCT Interschool Performing Arts Competition (FIPAC) – to celebrate and foster the development of the performing arts culture in Nigerian Schools – this dream has been realized for three years running, with 2016’s edition expanding to Lagos.
Olamidun Majekodunmi, founder of The Performing Arts School Nigeria, gave a keynote speech whereby she addressed the often undervalued need for performing arts and extracurricular activities within the Nigerian school system stating “FIPAC is here to support your goals by contributing as much as we can to the growth of your performing arts departments.”
The 2016 competition was supported by the United Bank for Africa (UBA), Celebrations Cards and Gift and Chivita ; alongside online media partners BellaNaija, 360 Nobs, YNaija, Pulse. The event’s growth made an impact in both cities, having taken place on the 18th and 26th of May, 2016 at the Agip Recital Hall of the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos and Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.
