New information has come to light in the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp domestic violence claim as Entertainment Weekly received never-before-seen text conversations between Amber and a man assumed to be Johnny Depp’s assistant, Stephen Deuters.
The messages which ET got from a source, claim Heard was being physically battered by Depp as far back as May 2014 – before the couple tied the knot.
The chat began with a recipient purported to be Depp’s PA, Stephen, apologizing on behalf of someone, assumed to be Depp.
Stephen began the conversation, “Think he’s just texted you. He’s incredibly apologetic and knows that he has done wrong. He wants to get better now. He’s been very explicit about that this morning. Feel like we’re at a critical juncture.”
The recipient of the text, suspected to be Amber replied, “Yes but I don’t know how to be around him after what he did to me yesterday. I don’t know if I can stay with him.”
The chat continued with the Depp’s purported assistant saying, “He wants to see you so much. He’s distraught.”
The reply which is assumed to be written by Amber said, “Don’t worry about the flights. I’ll be taking care of them myself. Thank you. Look, he thinks he doesn’t deserve this. Obviously he has no idea what he did or the extent that he did it. If someone was truly honest with him about how bad it really was, he’d be appalled. The man Johnny”…
Heard continued, “And definitely wouldn’t say to me he doesn’t deserve it. I’m sad that he doesn’t have a better way to really know the severity of his actions yesterday. Unfortunately for me, I remember in full detail everything that happened.”
Her recipient, still assumed to be Stephen replied that the focus of their conversation, Depp, couldn’t remember the events which the purported Stephen and Amber are talking about.
The man claiming to be Depp’s assistant responded, “He was appalled. When I told him he kicked you, he cried. It was disgusting. And he knows it. I wasn’t with him when he”... and the message broke off.
The chat with Stephen continued, “Sent you the second text. He read it to me and I said it was the wrong text to send. He then sent the third one and sat and cried again after on the bed. He’s a little lost boy. And needs all the help he can get. He is so very sorry, as he should be”
His recipient, Amber responded, “He’s done this many times before. Tokyo, the island, London (remember that?!), and I always stay. Always believe he’s going to get better…And then every 3 or so month [sic], I’m in the exact same position.”
According to ET, the recipients of the message haven’t been independently verified as it’s still unknown whether the texts were edited.
Amber Heard cited “irreconcilable differences” when she filed for divorce from Depp last month.
The 30-year-old actress also claimed that “there was one severe incident in December 2015 when I truly feared for my life”, adding that Depp had been “verbally and physically abusive” during the entirety of their relationship.
Depp’s divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, said in court documents that Heard is “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.”
