Rita Ora left JayZ’s Roc Nation and has signed unto a new label, Atlantic Records. Ora’s new worldwide recording contract will release her new music this year.
The Brit singer said in a statement via her social media, “Music is my first love and I am looking forward to getting my new songs released. I’m thankful to my new Atlantic Records family for all their support and encouragement. The next chapter is going to be incredible.”
President of Atlantic Records UK, Ben Cook said regarding the label’s latest recruit, “Rita is a rare talent and a true global star,” he said. “First and foremost she’s a great singer who’s hugely passionate about music and I’m delighted to welcome her to Atlantic Records. We look forward to getting in the studio with her and making an incredible album.”
Ora was previously in a legal battle with Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation after she accused the label of not releasing her second studio album rather they shadowed her for other singers.
Jay Z and Ora settled the issue amicably as the former X Factor judge’s attorney, Howard King disclosed Jay Z already had the intent to release Rita from her contract.
King said, “Jay Z has personally and graciously promised Rita complete freedom from Roc Nation, the details of which are now being finalized. We believe that Roc Nation’s distributor, Sony Music, has required Roc Nation to file this action to preserve whatever rights Sony might have pending resolution.”
