Arsenal midfielder, Aaron Ramsey is confident his home country of Wales can impress beyond the Euro 2016.

Wales qualified for the continental showpiece for the first time, finishing second behind Belgium, to secure the place in France.

A talented Wales setup, made up of Real Madrid forward, Gareth Bale, Ramsey and Swansea captain Ashley Williams garnered 21 points of 30, as they secured qualification.

And Arsenal midfielder Ramsey hopes the finals will be just the start of a long period of success.

He told Omnisport: “We have been waiting a long time for this, and for me it was a goal of mine to try to help Wales qualify for a major championships and having done that, I am so proud that I have done it.

“With this team we have, we are creating history, and hopefully, we can do it for many more years.”

Former Cardiff City star Ramsey is also confident about Wales’ chances at the finals, citing their success in the qualifying campaign.

“We have done well in the group stages. We have beaten and drawn against Belgium, who I think are in the top three teams in the world, so we can compete against those sort of teams.

“Hopefully, we can do that on the big stages and in the finals.”
