share on:

Almost every avid television and movie follower is used to watching an actor get a role and play the part either excellently or terribly. Some of these actors accept a stunt double for dangerous action scenes but for most parts, if we are watching Angelina Jolie, we want to see Angelina Jolie. This is because as it turns out, we may not actually be watching who we think we are watching which happens to occur more often than we know.

There have been moments when our favourite actors were swapped without us even noticing. Check out some stars that were replaced without us even knowing.

Brandon Lee – The Crow

Brandon Lee was the son of Bruce Lee who was arguably one of the best martial artists to grace the television screen. In a tragic event while filming the action movie – The Crow, he was mistakenly shot by a prop gun which had a dummy bullet left in its chambers. This led to his death.
In an unexpected move, the mother and fiancé of Brandon encouraged the movie director, Alex Proyas to finish the film. This necessitated the use of a stunt double in person of Brandon’s friend, Chad Stahelski to stand in for him. Special effects were employed to give him Brandon Lee’s appearance while a stunt double helped with the action scenes.

Harrison Ford – Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Harrison Ford suffered a terrible back injury on the set of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom which left him on a hospital bed for weeks. This however did not stop producers from going on with the movie because Steven Spielberg had prepared for any eventuality. He went on to swap Harrison Ford for his longtime stunt double, Vic Armstrong, who shared a striking resemblance with the actor so much so that the director, Spielberg sometimes got confused as to who was who.

A fan noticed that in the ninth season, Jennifer Aniston was replaced in a scene where she was supposed to be standing next to Matt Leblanc. Movie production outfits make use of stand-ins who replace actors when they are unavailable. They are usually cut or edited off but that wasn’t the case in this particular episode and it took years for fans to find out.

Paul Walker – Fast And Furious 7

Everyone knows about the tragic death of Fast and Furious 7 star, Paul Walker but not all know that he was replaced by producers after consultation with his family. His family were gracious enough to allow filming of the movie to continue and two of his brothers who closely resembled the actor physically, even volunteered as stand-ins. Special effects crew were able to turn Cody and Caleb Walker into Paul Walker for the remainder of the film. The movie went on to become the biggest hit of the franchise grossing over 1.5 billion US dollars.

Lena Headey plays the evil queen mother, Cersei Lannister, ton HBO’s Game of Thrones. Because of her villainous character, a lot of viewers were quite happy when she had to take the ‘walk of shame’ where she had to walk completely naked through the streets in season five of the show. The intense scene where she was stoned with filth and hard objects was humiliating to say the least but was not performed by Lena Headey. The entire walk was performed by a body double who was seamlessly merged with the facial expressions and body language come of her character, Cersei Lannister to create the humiliating scene of a character everyone has come to hate.
