The immediate past President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has on Wednesday evening, returned to the country from his long overseas trip aboard an Air France flight.
It was gathered that he arrived the country through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State around 6pm and was received on arrival by different groups led by the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC).
It was also learnt that Jonathan arrived at Otuoke at 9pm.
His former Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokiri, also confirmed his arrival on his Twitter handle.
He said: “As promised, ex-President Jonathan returned to Nigeria today after multi-city speaking tour”.
It would be recalled a section of the media had reported about a week ago that Jonathan had fled the country on exile at the behest of the investigations of top Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officials by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
But on May 23, Jonathan denied the report saying, “I’m not on exile. I have no cause to go on exile. It is a wicked and malicious report.”
