France 2-1 Republic Of Ireland: Griezmann Scores Decisive Brace

France had to battle from 1-0 down to beat the Republic of Ireland 2-1, and progress to the last eight. Antoine Griezmann’s double helping les bleus to the needed win.

France went behind, as early as the second minute, with Robbie Grady netting a penalty. The second half was a different story entirely, as a quick fire brace from the Atletico man saved the day.

Shane Duffy was then shown a straight red card, for bringing down the Atletico Madrid striker. And the 10 men were unable to stage an unlikely comeback.

France will now play the winners of Monday’s last-16 clash between England and Iceland in the last eight.
