The 2016 BET Awards may have nominated Chris Brown’s Sex You Back To Sleep for a Viewers’ Choice Award category but Brown isn’t hyped about his nomination, at all.
He has bluntly given the middle finger to award shows, called them staged and said networks lie for ratings.
Scheduled to hold on June 26, 2016, at the Microsoft Theater Theatre in Los Angeles, Brown was nominated alongside Beyoncé’s Formation and Rihanna’s collaborative Work featuring Drake.
The 27 year-old slammed the fan-voted category after a fan shared an update of the current top three nominees and the votes received by each artist on Instagram, reports confirmed.
- Beyonce, 1327851 Votes
- Rihanna, 1327430 Votes
- Chris Brown, 1267309 Votes
Another fan responded by encouraging other Breezy music lovers to send in their votes to enable the father-of-one win the Viewers’ Choice Award category. The fan wrote, “Cmon guys, we want Breezy to win! Link in bio! #IChooseBreezy #ChrisBrown #BETAwards.”
Not in the least bit motivated, Chris responded, “F*** THEM AWARDS! EVERY AWARD SHOW AND AWARD IS FIXED. Networks lie to fans so they can engage in their programs..EVEN THE GRAMMYS. If I don’t perform, I don’t come. it’s just as fake as the industry and they [sic] lies these artist tell y’all to gain success. Don’t be fooled.”
This isn’t Chris Brown’s first disdain at awards. In January 2016, Variety reported Breezy’s criticism of the Grammy Awards via his Twitter despite having been nominated for Best Rap/Song Collaboration for “Only” alongside artists Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne.
Although he later deleted the tweet, it read, “#GRAMMY? This is probably the main reason i love being free to create any kind of music I want. Too many people kiss a** And work less.”
This comes just as Justin Bieber called award shows ‘Hollow’ last month, despite winning twice at the BBMAs.
If every award show is fixed does that mean we should disregard every award you, Chris Brown have won? Or is Breezy scared Riri might win?
