Andros Townsend’s summer of disappointment could be set to take a turn for the better, with Crystal Palace prepared to offer the winger a route back into the Premier League.

Andros Townsend has endured a difficult past month following his omission from Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016 and Newcastle’s relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.

However, brighter times could be on the horizon, with the Guardian claiming Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew intends to trigger the release clause in the 24-year-old’s contract at St James’ Park.

Andros Townsend is believed to have an £8m release clause in his current deal which clubs in the top half of the Premier League can activate, those in the bottom half, however, would have to cough up around £10.5m for his services.
