The crisis rocking the hegemony of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took another dimension on Monday morning as the former chairman of the party, Ali Modu-Sheriff, and his supporters, besieged the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the party to take over the affairs of the party.

He was, however, prevented from entering the secretariat as security operatives deployed to the secretariat ensured that the barricade at the gate was stiffened.

Sheriff and his National Working Committee (NEC) were sacked by the PDP at the party’s national convention held in Port Harcourt on May 21 and a national caretaker committee chosen to pilot the affairs of the party.

However, the ousted chairman, who was not too pleased with the decision, told pressmen that he was at the Secretariat to resume duty because until the subsisting court cases were dispensed with, he remains the National Chairman.
