Cleveland Cavaliers Are The 2016 NBA Champions! – History has been made as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the 2016 NBA Championships.
Down 1-3 after 4 games, the Cavs needed to win 3 straight NBA Finals elimination games — a feat that have never been done — if they wanted to win it all. And somehow, they did.
Taking it a game at a time, James and Irving combined for 82 in Game 5, with James staying hot and dropping 41 again on the Golden State Warriors in Game 6. With all to play for in Game 7, James and company managed to keep their heads down and grab a hard fought win in front of a very hostile crowd at the Oracle Arena.
James made 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists as the Cavs won 93-89, with a three pointer from Irving the final dagger in the heart of a Golden State team on the verge of making history.
“I came back for a reason,” James said in his post game interview. “I came back to bring a championship to our city.”
“We’re stunned,” Warriors Coach Steve Kerr said. “We thought we were going to win.” It was a tough series for the Warriors, who lost starting big man Andrew Bogut midway through the series, and leader Steph Curry just not at the level that won him a first ever unanimous MVP award.
