Amber Heard is not new to domestic abuse as new documents reveal the actress was arrested for physically assaulting her then girlfriend Tasya Van Ree seven years ago..
Amber who has been accused of fabricating text messages to set Johnny Depp up got into an argument with partner, Van Ree on September 14, 2009 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport where she allegedly grabbed van Ree’s arm.
She was arrested and booked for misdemeanor domestic violence.
According to an obtained audio recording of the court hearing, the prosecutor dropped the case though the judge informed Amber Heard she wasn’t off the hook as prosecutors could change their mind and refile against her within the 2-year statute of limitations.
That never happened.
Heard and Tasya viewed themselves as a married couple even though gay marriage wasn’t legal eight years ago.
The 30-year-old actress legally changed her name to Amber Van Ree on March in 2008 in California and stated the reason to do so as they were in a ‘domestic partnership’.
In 2011, the couple had a private ceremony in New York, as same-sex marriage was legalized there but did not make it legally official.
The Mirror reports, Amber did not need to divorce her partner because of their legal status but did petition to change her name back in 2013 and it was granted the following year three months after she and Johnny got engaged.
While filing for divorce, she accused Johnny Depp of being physically abusive.
Amber said: “Johnny has a long-held and widely acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a short fuse.
He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary for me as it has proven many times to be physically dangerous and/or life threatening to me. During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me.”
Johnny Depp’s legal team are dismissing Amber’s domestic violence claims as nothing more than a money-grabbing scheme.
