Less than 24 hours after the closure of its old website, the Niger Delta Avengers, a new militant group operating in the South-South region of Nigeria, has launched a new website, www.nigerdeltaavengers.org.

The militant group, which is responsible for attacks on oil installations within that region, has been using its Facebook page, Twitter handle and website for the promulgation of its heinous actions.

At the weekend, the group shut down its website, leading people to believe it was no longer online.

However, on Sunday afternoon, the group stated, via its Twitter handle, @NDAvengers, that its old website was never shutdown, but underwent maintenance.

This is coming on a day two oil firms operating in Nigeria, Eno and Aiteo, said that they are currently losing about 140,000 barrels of crude daily at their oilfields in Bayelsa state, due to attacks on their facilities by the militants.

The lost, it was learnt, is causing an economic downturn for the country, as an estimated N1.3 billion of crude product is being lost on daily basis.
