20 People Killed After Shooting In Gay Club – 20 people were killed and 42 more injured after a gunman opened fire inside the popular Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

The club is a popular spot for homosexuals, and witnesses reported about 40 shots inside the club fired by the shooter, identified as 29-year old Omar Marteen.

Marteen, who is a US citizen, was killed by US police in a shootout. A police officer was shot in the head during the gunfight that followed, but was saved by his Kevlar helmet. An alarm was raised by staff of the club who posted on Facebook: “Everyone get out of pulse and keep running.”

Mayor Buddy Dyer praised the efforts of law enforcement agencies, saying that “many were saved by [their] heroic efforts”.”We had a crime that will have a lasting effect, we need to stand strong, we need to support victims and their families,” he said.

“As soon as we have any information we will update everyone,” the club stated later in a Facebook statement. “Please keep everyone in your prayers as we work through this tragic event. Thank you for your thoughts and love.”
